Many years ago, I was reading an article on a man that had designed eco friendly homes that were covered in earth, and were not to dissimilar to that of the hobbit homes that were featured in the lord of the ring movies.

I think I was reading about it in a magazine whilst in a waiting room or something.   A completely awesome idea, and this was way before Grand Designs was on the TV.  I think the plan was to build a small town using this eco-dome style technology. They were designed by Roger Dean.   And he did a lot of crazy art work back in the 70′s.  And you know how crazy the 70′s were.

I’m am fascinated by earthships, and I have been reading up on them for the past year or so, and has fuelled a love for alternative architecture.

I found out that they were showing the build of one on Grand Designs last night, and I gladly missed my teams dismal second half performance on the other channel (sorry West Ham, but it was).

So what were my thoughts on it?

Due to MY horrible career history and dissatisfaction with most things work wise, a former girlfriend of mine sent me a link for the supposed ‘Best Job in the World‘.

And I am going to apply for it.  I don’t expect to get it, but I think I am going to make a funny video.

I had a look at a lot of the videos, and after a few weeks, most of the them have been complete tripe.  I think the people applying have got confused with the next lot of auditions of Big Brother.

The first initial batch of videos were almost plea’s for work, for the job to miraculously save them from their dreary lives, but failed to address the most basic of all rules.

READ THE BRIEF AND ANSWER THE QUESTIONS

It’s not rocket science.  60 seconds.  That is all they have, and half of them just go on about why this, and why that.  No I can do’s, I will learns, I have done….just utter bull.

So I am off to put the people to shame.

I think I had a small wee in my pants when reading the news today.  According to New Economics Foundation, we are now eating into the “earth’s overdraft” for this year.  And we are now borrowing from the future.

Now I know that it is easy to jump on the scare wagon like everyone and panic about everything, but there has to be truth in this somewhere.  The recent weather/hurricane season in Florida has to be a testament to that.

Does that not scare the shit out of any one at all?

Well today, I satisfied one of my new personal hobbies.  I went to see an earthship built in Brighton.

I’ve been nuts about green architecture for a while now.  The Grand Designs TV show has fuelled a lot of this, plus reading about people that do things differently.  The fact that we are living in an age where “Green” is not only a hot word, but actually the best way forwards, I cannot understand why it has not been embraced by the government, and rolled out as a national programme.  Or enforced as a law.  Just shows you what governments are interested in.

Well, they are only interested in it until they get into power.

If only.  That would be amazing wouldn’t it?  To have your own island.  Seems a bit of a dream.

NO!!  This is no longer a dream but a proper reality, by one man. Richie Sowa.  A man that had it all, gave it all up, but in the end had the whole time!

With the global powers feeling funny in their chairs about green issues, this man is a true inspiration, that we can take back some degree of control in our lives and set and example to the people that “somehow” got into power.

We need more people like him.

Like millions of other people, I try and put rights to the world.  Whether in deep discussion with friends over a beer or 2, or chatting in the car, whatever.  We all do it.  And I like it.

For some reason, we got onto the state of the world today, especially the current levels of crime that are currently showing across the UK at the moment.

I don’t know what all the individual cases, but I had a few little idea’s.
