My Alkaline Diet – Week 2
Sorry for the delay. Work has put a spanner in my 3 month ‘fix terry’ blogging schedule.
Okay, so we are into week 2.
There is a lot of the same stuff in week 1 repeated. Thankfully the power-shake has not appeared again, but it is the first time to bust out my juicer.
In addition to the awesome alkaline breakfasts that I am having at the moment (same as last week), I have been introduced to a few healthy snacks and once juice which was bearable. And now I have photo’s, you lucky people.
So first up, was the introduction of a new breakfast. The first one was all fibre. This week, just a few extra ingredients and it tastes like a different breakfast.
Grated apple and cinnamon on this one. Delicious.
Seriously.
What else was there. Ah yes. The introductions of my first juicing experience.
Now. I had a look at the list of ingredients for this and it did not fare well for me.
Bugger.
So my first juice was:
- Cucumber
- Celery
- Spinich
- Kale
- Parsley
And you know what. it took me about 15 minutes to drink the damn concoction. But I did. I’m sure that my body is rejoicing at the explosion of vitamins in its system, but my taste buds left me a notice saying they wouldnt be coming back.
Ironically, despite the look, taste and smell, this actually gets a lot easier to drink as days go on.
Apparently, it takes 8 days to retrain your taste bud to ‘like the taste’ of something. I’ll force it all down if I have to.
So what else has been on the cards…
Alkaine Lunch and Dinners.
Well. I’ve been having some of the awesome wraps still, as well as avocado on toast with lemon juice and almonds soaked in water.
But I was introduced to new foods this week.
I had a chick pea salad for lunch and it was good. A watery taste. Lacking in intense flavour. The celery is hard for me. I’ve never liked it. I cant stand the smell. I had to cut it into the tiniest pieces before if would go anywhere near my mouth. This alkaline diet is making my mouth sad. Either that, or I am just having to confront my food demons.
I can just see repressed images in my head or having to eat cauliflower coming back to haunt me. The thing is with lunches like this (and its a gripe I have with most humans – including me) is that this lunch was easy to make. Took about 10 mins and I had enough for 3 days. I could have paid over £3 for that in a supermarket and I would have a got a fraction of the size.
We live in an era now where we know what is good for us and what isn’t and being is the first step to your own downfull, if you apply it to your diet OR your life.
Alkaline Dinner
For this week, I had 2 dinners to make, but in making the first one, I found I still had enough to last me, so I opted out of the Alkaline Chilli Stirfry.
So instead we have the Almost Alkaline Lasagne.
Hmmm, not really not sure about this one.
The cheese sauce was a tofu concoction. Okay, but meh. The tomato/pepper sauce in the top was a little watery in taste. It was thick enough, just lacking in the “Ooomph”. And the contents where courgette, tomato and aubergine, in slices. And that was it. I’ll be honest….the best part was the pasta substitute.
Not sure that one was for me. But I did eat it all. I just seemed to be a lot of effort thats all.
